Updates for Solar Project

Here is a brief update on the DeWitt High School Solar Project:

*The DHS Solar Group traveled to West Bloomfield High School (October 2018) to learn about the E.A.R.T.H. Club's solar array and other initiatives

*Student members: Elena DeLaCruz and Addisyn Henning met with DHS Principal Jody McKean to open an internal account to begin fundraising efforts

*Addie and Elena made contact with Folsom Labs to use software to monitor the power generated by the proposed solar array. The company has offered a free 30 day trial and an extension after the initial trial period

*A meeting was held with Dawn Plenar and John Krzystowczyk of Lansing Board of Water and Light to help with reaching out to Consumers Power for conducting an energy audit for DHS and other types of support beneficial for both parties i.e. STEP program and Energy Careers Week

*A logo for the solar project is currently being designed by the Graphic Design class at DHS taught by Ms. Norman

*Addie and Elena - along with some comments by DHS Science teacher Fred Hingst (who is providing guidance) - made a presentation at the DHS staff meeting on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 regarding the solar project. Additionally, they are planning on presenting to the DeWitt Public School Board in the near future

*Mr. Hingst, Addie, and Elena are planning on attending the public discussion event at Case Hall (Michigan State University) for individuals to give feedback on various forms of alternative energy
