The Dewitt Creativity Group is a united effort on behalf of the creatively-minded students at DHS to ensure continued innovation and expression in all forms.

DCG Makes Impact at Ignite Lansing 3.0!

SchoolKore has finally landed and judging from the reaction of the audience at Ignite Lansing! 3.0 it looks to have a promising future. The following is a copy of Jason LaFay's presentation regarding "The Transformation of the American High School for the Creative Economy":

1.Crisis of creativity and innovation plagues our state and nation
2.Can the American High School solve this crisis?
3.The solution: SchoolKore (a manifesto for a movement)
4.SchoolKore: a movement of students, teachers, parents, and others based in American High Schools that will transform society
5.How?
6.High Schools will form Creativity Groups
7.These Groups will:
8.Develop sources of alternative energy
9.Organize and execute festivals
10.Create Arts and Business incubators
11.Interview foreign heads of state
12.Start innovative businesses
13.Work with others to improve the quality of life across geographic/racial/ethnic/political/religious boundaries
14. Rebrand districts and communities for the 21st century
15. Start a small record label for high school bands
16. Donate books to libraries on new economy topics
17. Start a theater of the homeless
18. Extend WiFi coverage across communities
19. SchoolKore will let students be the solution!

LaFay then invited audience members to the Mid-Michigan Creative Teachers Summit on March 20, 2010 at the Temple Building.
