The Dewitt Creativity Group is a united effort on behalf of the creatively-minded students at DHS to ensure continued innovation and expression in all forms.

DCG Marches On Throughout Busy Summer

 On June 8, 2013 in Luddington, Michigan, Jason LaFay and Brian Byars gave presentations regarding the DeWitt Creativity Group and the DeWitt Research and Development Laboratory at the 2013 Michigan Energy Fair. Summaries of DHS student alternative energy projects were given along with information about "Project Enlighten" , a successful campaign that DHS students spearheaded along with the DeWitt Public Schools Foundation, DeWitt Charter Township, and Michigan Energy Options to acquire a windmill for DeWitt High School. In addition, the DCG worked with the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau to bring the 2014 Michigan Energy Fair to the Lansing area, helping to bring hundreds of guests who will spend considerable amounts of money. Contacts were made with individuals who suggested both the DCG and DRDL submit applications to present at other future events involving K-12 innovative education.

On June 18, 2013 in Ferndale, Michigan, Jason LaFay attended an informational session about the University of Michigan at Flint's Urban Education Masters degree program. Jason was able to meet with key representatives from the program and prospective student candidates about possible collaborations between the DCG and several small urban schools in Detroit and beyond.

On June 21, 2013 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Jeff Croley and Jason LaFay participated in the Institute for Innovation in Education: June Gathering Public Conference.Croley and LaFay were able to meet with other education professionals throughout the state of Michigan, United States of America, and the world. Many issues relevant to the work of the DCG and other efforts were discussed with avid enthusiasm. Several solid conatcts were made with the hope of possible collaborations between the DCG and other organizations.

On July 15, 2013, Jason LaFay participated in a Tourism Visioning Forum put on by the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau. Many of the regional objectives of the DeWitt Creativity Group were given consideration for an overall tourism blueprint for the Lansing area as a result of the  forum.

On July 25, 2013, Jason LaFay gave a presentation to the Rotary of Lansing-DeWitt Sunrise Club about the work of the DeWitt Creativity Group to several business professionals. Many thanks to Todd Tarrant for the chance to inform Lansing area business leaders of the contributions of the DCG to local economic development and education.

On August 5, 2013, Jason LaFay gave a presentation to the Lansing area Immigrant and Refugee Resource Collaboration (IRCC) on the goals and ideals of the DeWitt Creativity Group. Additionally, the DCG will work with the member groups of the IRCC to develop the Welcoming/Global Lansing initiative (an effort to welcome and make immigrants and other foreign nationals/visitors feel more at home in Mid-Michigan).
