Farewell to Student Explorers!

The following is an email from Bob Richards, advisor to the Stockbridge Underwater Robotics Team on the morning of their return trip to Palau:

The ROV Team will be leaving this morning for a two week Expedition to the Republic of Palau with the BentProp Project. We will be searching for U.S. Aircraft shot down during World War II that have missing aircrews. (MIAs) We will also be spending time with a local WWII veteran of the Battle on Peleliu, Lew Towler. He plans to tour the battlefield with our students as well spend time on our water searches.

You can follow along on the Teams' Facebook Page (URL below). If you are not on Facebook you can follow along on web at BentProp.org where daily updates are all ready being posted.

This year the team will work with Scripps Institution of Oceanography out of the University of California at San Diego, The Discovery Channel, Popular Science Magazine and the BentProp Project. We will also be spending a day on the water with the President of Palau.

Team members are:

Buck Poszywak
Jenny Spink
Evan Upshur
Bre Taylor
Alex Noffsinger
Chloe Hypes
Karly Kruger
Jeremy Spink

My adult supervision will be provided by Josh Nichols.

We will also have two Dewitt High School student videographers with us. They are part of the Dewitt Creativity Group.

Geoffry Crowley and Brad Grost.

The team will return to Michigan on April 3rd.
